4 Steps for Creating Drag and Drop Interactions in Lectora

Lectora® offers several types of gradable questions, including drag and drop questions. Drag and drop questions offer a fun level of interactivity for your learners and are easy for you to create.A drag and drop question has two main components: the items you drag (“drag items”) and the destinations that you drag those items to (“drop spots”). In Lectora e-Learning software, you can choose between using text boxes or pictures when creating the drag items and drop spots within a quiz, allowing for many question types and formats. Here’s an example of a drag and drop question that uses text and a drop spot image:

The example below uses pictures. It also shows the drag and drop functionality being used to trigger a branching scenario. The learner is asked to drag the graphic of the Olympic torch onto a graphic representing a topic he or she is interested in learning about. The course then takes the learner to the correct chapter.

Quick Tip: When creating drag and drop or matching questions using pictures, resize your images to the same dimensions before loading them in Lectora. This will make quiz creation easier and also make your tests and assessments more visually appealing.Common Drag and Drop Interaction TypesAs you can see, there are tons of ways to use drag and drop interactions. Below are a few of the most common ways to incorporate drag and drop functions:

  • One to one: a single item dragged onto a single drop spot
  • One to many: a single item can be dragged onto multiple drop spots (like example 2 above)
  • Many to one: multiple items go into a single drop spot (like example 1 above)

Don’t forget to add distractors (incorrect answers) so that your drag and drop questions aren’t too easy!4 Easy Steps for Creating Drag and Drop Questions in Lectora:
